Lessons from Mama

Today should have been your 57th birthday. Nothing has changed. I still miss you everyday. I am still your little girl who looked up to you and dreamed of becoming like you one day. It has been 17 years since you went to a better place, but the void you left in my heart is still there.

I remember when I was around three years old, I wanted a toy but you cannot afford it. I cried so hard and threw tantrums. You grabbed me at my neck and from then on I learned that when you say no, you mean “no”.

At such a young age, you instilled in me that I will manage our family business when I graduate from college. You let us, Sheena and I, ‘work’ during summer vacation in our printing press so that we can appreciate how hard it is to earn money. It was never, “Mama bili mo ako nun or Mama gusto ko yun”. You will always tell us to work for it, save our baon or use the ‘sweldo’ we earned to buy what we want. I remember one time when I was 13, you let me deliver goods to one of the biggest companies in Cavite, being able to talk to VPs and transact in banks. You said that it is good for me since I will be able to develop my communication skills and overcome my shyness.

You taught me to always remain calm and always see the positive side of things even on the darkest situations.

You told me that education is the only treasure that cannot be taken away from me. You never pressured us to be on top of our class and yet celebrate every achievement we had. We had rewards which serve as our motivation to do good in school. I remember you were my source of strength when I was speaking in front of the whole student population when I ran as student council president in highschool. You always push me to do what I want and to give my best in everything.

You showed me that kindness shall always be given even on people who are rude to you and that we should always look back to where we came from.

I’m unlucky that you were not able to witness my life’s greatest milestones — graduating from high school and college, having a job, getting engaged, getting married, having a child, early retirement from work. All my decisions always go back to the lessons I learned from you. I hope I made you proud. ♡

Love & Courage

“We don’t develop courage by being happy everyday. We develop it by surviving difficult times and challenging diversity.” -Barbara De Angelis

This by far is the most challenging time in our lives. In our 8 years of being together, never had I imagined that we will be dealing with a situation like this sooner. It’s in Gheoffrey’s genes by the way. Yet, we are still thankful that his heart ailment had been diagnosed at 33 years old. Who knows what might have happened if we did not follow our instincts and did not rush to the hospital? Who knows if this happened when he was 40, 50 or 60 years old?

As I was staring at him as I watch him sleep now, I still see the youthful man with smiling eyes and cheerful disposition. I still see the same person whom I chose to love 8 years ago. I still thank God for him and for every obstacle we had and still going through. The past days are rough days for our family especially being far away from our daughter. Sometimes my heart is torn between being a wife or a mom but I choose to be both. I have to be strong for both my husband and my daughter. Plus, we are lucky to have family and friends supporting us along the way.

Three days ago, he said sorry. But then I reminded him that marriage means for better or for worse, in sickness or in health, right? We marry not to be with someone only in good times, but most importantly holding each other’s hands during the bad times.

The past days might not be good, but there are still a million reasons to be thankful for. Tomorrow is a brand new day to dream, to hope and to love. ❤️

Review : Transwhite beauty kit

The transwhite beauty kit is my all time skin saver! It is my run-to skin regimen when I want that certain glow. Recently,I got breakouts from using Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation. I used this for a week and my skin cleared, as expected.

My skin with breakouts

The kit includes a papaya bar, rejuvenating toner, rejuvenating cream, antiblemish cream and sunblock spf30.

The Rejuvenating facial toner cleanses the skin, removes impurities such as dirt and oil. This is the next step after washing your face using the papaya soap.

The rejuvenating cream makes your skin look firmer, tighter and more radiant. It is anti-aging and whitening effect.

The anti-blemish cream makes skin clearer, brighter and smoother looking. It also minimizes lines as it lightens the blemishes.

Both creams are to be used at night since have thick consistencies but does not leave an icky feeling. The sunblock cream shall be used in the morning after the toner.

7 days after using the kit

Overall, I rate this product 5/5. It is available for order in @reillysclosetph (Instagram).
